FG Gets 130 Hectares for Ijebu-Ode Dry Port

The Federal Government has received 130 hectares of land from the Ogun State Government for the development of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port project.
The handover ceremony, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, along the Epe/Mojoda Expressway in Ijebu-Ode, marks a major milestone in the government’s drive to decongest seaports and boost regional trade.
Speaking at the event, Olufemi Oloruntola, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, described the port as a strategic investment that will expand Nigeria’s maritime capacity and create jobs.
“This project will enhance logistics efficiency, support industrial growth, and bring new economic opportunities to Ogun and neighbouring states,” Oloruntola said.
Representing Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, reaffirmed the State’s commitment to infrastructural collaboration with the Federal Government.
“The Ijebu-Ode Dry Port will strengthen intermodal connectivity between road, rail, and air transport while complementing the Gateway International Airport,” Dairo noted.
Governor Abiodun, in a prior statement, said the project aligns with his administration’s vision to transform Ogun into a logistics and industrial hub.
“Together, the dry port and our new airport will drive industrialization and position Ogun as a key trade gateway,” he said.
The land transfer followed a request from the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, in June 2025. Design consultancy and site preparations are expected to commence immediately.
When completed, the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port is expected to serve as a major cargo distribution hub for the South-West, easing congestion at Lagos ports and improving trade competitiveness across Nigeria.
