The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration, bringing relief and festive cheer to millions of Nigerians.
Global Mirror News gathered that the announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, as the nation prepares to celebrate the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the Minister congratulated Muslim faithful across the country for successfully completing the fasting period.
Tunji-Ojo urged adherents of Islam to continue upholding the core values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice, which are central to Ramadan and the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr.
The two-day holiday is expected to allow families, friends, and communities to come together in celebration, reflection, and renewed commitment to national unity.
