FG Declares Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration

The Federal Government (FG) has announced a public holiday on Friday, September 5, 2025, to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

In a statement signed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Government called on all Nigerians to join in celebrating the occasion.

According to the Minister, the holiday is an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad, including peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to emulate the Prophet’s teachings and pray for peace, security, and stability in the Country.

The Minister also called on all citizens to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and supportive of Government policies aimed at improving the well-being of all Nigerians.

He emphasized the importance of using the occasion to strengthen Community bonds, practice mutual respect, and serve humanity.

The declaration of the public holiday is seen as a way to promote national harmony and foster a sense of unity among Nigerians.

As the Country celebrates this important occasion, the Government has expressed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
