FG Declares Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 Public Holidays for Easter Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.
Global Mirror News gathered that the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on Wednesday on behalf of the Federal Government.
According to the minister, Friday, April 3, will be observed as Good Friday, while Monday, April 6, has been declared Easter Monday. He congratulated Christians across the country and in the diaspora, urging them to imbibe the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence associated with the Easter season.
Global Mirror News further gathered that Tunji-Ojo described Easter as a period of reflection and renewal, stressing the need for Nigerians to remain united and committed to national peace and development.
He urged citizens to use the holiday period to pray for the nation and support the Federal Government’s efforts toward economic growth, security and national stability.
The minister also reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implementing policies aimed at promoting shared prosperity and improving the lives of Nigerians.
