Father Arrested for Allegedly Beating 15-Year-Old Son to Death

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man over the alleged killing of his 15-year-old son and the secret burial of the teenager’s body within their family compound in Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.

Global Mirror News gathered that the disturbing incident occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, but remained hidden until credible intelligence reached security operatives. Acting swiftly on the information, Police Officers led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene on December 6, where preliminary findings confirmed the tragic development.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly assaulted his son with a stick at about 7:00 p.m., an attack that reportedly led to the boy’s death. In a bid to conceal the crime, the man was said to have dug a shallow grave within the family compound and buried the corpse.

The Police disclosed that the breakthrough in the case came after the deceased’s grandmother, an 82-year-old woman who is also the suspect’s mother and resides in the same house, provided vital information that exposed the alleged crime.

“Following due administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit,” the statement said. The suspect has since been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing.

In response to the incident, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, ordered that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The Police boss condemned all forms of violence, particularly within the family setting, and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He reaffirmed the command’s resolve to rid the state of crime and protect lives.

The Edo State Police Command also noted that it has intensified its crime-control measures in recent times, leading to the arrest and prosecution of several suspects. It added that a community safety partnership initiative has recently been launched to strengthen collaboration between the police and members of the public in enhancing security across the state.
