Faiths Converge as Pastor Gbenga Oso, “Daddy of Million Babies” Receives Final Honour in Lagos

In a rare display of unity and shared grief, Christians and Muslims stood shoulder-to-shoulder on Saturday as the Founder of Laughter Foundation International Ministry, Pastor Gbenga Oso, was laid to rest in Lagos. The revered televangelist, widely known as the “Daddy of Million Babies,” passed away at 63 after a brief illness.

The funeral, held at the church’s headquarters, drew an extraordinary crowd of clerics, dignitaries, worshippers, and families, many of whom credited Oso for restoring joy to their homes through his Ministry’s support for childless couples.

A Cross-Faith Farewell
While the event was led by leading Pentecostal figures, one of the most notable moments was the attendance of Muslim clerics led by Imam Semiu Tiamiyu of Salaudeen Memorial Central Mosque, Olososu, Lagos. Their presence underscored the broad reach and relationships the late Pastor cultivated beyond denominational lines.

Representatives of prominent Christian figures also graced the service, including:

Dr. Daniel Olukoya of MFM (represented by Pastor Kehinde Abiona)

Pastor Foluke Adeboye of RCCG (represented by Rev. Adebimpe Adelaja)

PFN Kosofe Province Chairman, Pastor Joshua Olaoye

RCCG Christian Bible College Provost, Pastor Rotimi Alaba

Tributes and a Call to Reflection
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Abiona stated that Oso’s life, and death, carried a dual message: the certainty of human mortality and the responsibility of spiritual readiness.

“Death, rapture, and Christ’s second coming remain inevitable realities,” he said. “Pastor Oso lived his life fully. What matters now is how prepared we are for eternity.”

He urged mourners to resolve conflicts, reconcile where necessary, and avoid procrastination in their relationship with God.

Family Speaks Through Tears and Gratitude
Emotions ran high as the late cleric’s wife and children delivered written tributes that revealed the depth of his influence at home.

His wife, Dorcas, wrote: “My darling husband… you stopped so suddenly, with your task unfinished. Your love remains fresh in my heart.”

His first son, Paul, recalled his father’s compassion and leadership.

Hannah wrote about the values he instilled, discipline, determination, integrity.

Elijah, Gabriel, and Mary also penned heartfelt messages reflecting gratitude, respect, and admiration.

Paul, speaking on behalf of the family, later expressed appreciation to attendees:
We are deeply grateful for the love we’ve received. The turnout today shows how far his influence reached.”

A Legacy Celebrated in Worship
The service featured special renditions from the Laughter Foundation choir, a guitar ensemble from MFM, and soul-stirring songs by Temitope Oso and Evangelist Bisade Philip. Bible readings were taken by Mary and Gabriel.

After prayers and a thanksgiving session led by Pastor Femi Abiona, Pastor Oso was interred on the church premises, surrounded by family and the congregation he shepherded for decades.

A Life That United Many
For many in attendance, the day’s gathering was more than a farewell, it was a testament to a life that bridged divides, restored hope, and transformed families across Nigeria and beyond.

Pastor Gbenga Oso leaves behind an enduring legacy etched not only in sermons and crusades but in the countless children whose births were celebrated as miracles through his Ministry.
