Egg Sellers Deny Role in Price Hike

The Egg Sellers and Distributors Association of Nigeria (ESDAN) has dismissed reports suggesting that its members are responsible for the persistent rise in egg prices across the Country.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos, the President of ESDAN, Mrs. Olaide Graham, described the allegations as misleading and unfair to members of the Association.
According to Graham, ESDAN remains committed to ensuring that eggs — a vital source of protein for many Nigerian households — remain accessible and affordable to the average citizen.
“Our Association’s primary goal is to make eggs available to everyone, regardless of social class.
We are not part of any plan to inflate prices or create artificial scarcity,” she stated.
She explained that while fluctuations in the market may sometimes occur due to factors such as feed costs, transportation challenges, or seasonal variations, ESDAN has continued to engage stakeholders to stabilize prices and ensure fair distribution.
Graham urged the public to disregard rumours linking egg distributors to unjustified price increases, assuring consumers that the Association remains focused on supporting the poultry industry and promoting food security in the Country.
