Edo Police Arrest Over 800 Suspects in 2025 Across Various Crimes
The Edo State Police Command reported that it arrested a total of 821 suspects in 2025 for a variety of criminal offences, reflecting intensified efforts to curb crime across the state.
State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, said the arrests spanned multiple crime categories, including 39 suspects for armed robbery, 171 for kidnapping, 117 for murder, 62 linked to rape and sexual offences, 239 for cultism, 36 for unlawful possession of firearms, and 157 for other offences.
The Police emphasized that these measures are part of a broader strategy to enhance security and protect residents, particularly during the festive season when crime rates often rise.
Agbonika encouraged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report suspicious activities promptly, highlighting the importance of community involvement in crime prevention.
