DSS Rescues Kaduna Pastors, Arrests Three Suspects in Major Security Operation

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have successfully rescued two kidnapped Pastors and a church member in Kaduna State while arresting three suspects linked to the incident, Global Mirror News gathered.

The victims—Rev. Idi Buhari, Rev. Emmanuel Jacob, and Suleiman Adamu—were abducted on January 9, 2026, in the Gwagwada Area of Chikun Local Government while traveling from Kugosi to Sarkin Pawa in Niger State to officiate a wedding.

The DSS later rescued them from the bush during ongoing security operations in Niger State, Global Mirror News gathered.

Receiving the rescued Pastors, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, praised the DSS for their “courageous, timely, and selfless service,” noting that the successful rescue brought immense relief to the church and families of the victims.

He emphasized that tackling insecurity requires cooperation among Security Agencies, faith leaders, and the public, warning that criminals thrive in divided Communities.

In a joint operation by the DSS commands of Niger and Kaduna States, three suspects, Kwalo, Kawu, and Iro Malam Iro were arrested for their involvement in the kidnapping and in arms and ammunition trafficking along the Kwara–Niger–Katsina–Kaduna corridor, Global Mirror News gathered.

Investigations revealed that the suspects used motor parks and rural routes to evade security checkpoints while transporting ammunition.

Kwalo received N50,000, Kawu N5,000, and Iro N20,000 for handling the consignment. Kwalo claimed he was misled into transporting what he believed was tantalite hidden in sacks of millet.
