DSS Invites Awujale Nominees as Kingmakers Cancel Scheduled Engagement

Global Mirror News gathered that the Awujale Kingmakers Council has cancelled an earlier planned meet-and-greet at the Aafin Awujale and instead directed all nominees for the Awujale stool to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Ijebu-Ode.
The development was communicated in an official letter dated January 20, 2026, addressed to the leadership of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, including its Chairman, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi; Deputy Chairman, Otunba Dokun Ajidagba; and Vice Chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf.
According to the notice obtained by Global Mirror News, all Awujale nominees are required to present themselves at the DSS office located along NTA Road, beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode, by 11:00 a.m. prompt on Wednesday.
The Council explained that the directive from the Security Agency necessitated the cancellation of the palace engagement and expressed regret over any inconvenience the abrupt change might cause.
The letter, signed by the Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, urged all concerned nominees to comply strictly with the instruction and ensure punctuality.
Global Mirror News gathered that the summons is coming amid heightened traditional consultations and administrative processes surrounding the nomination of a new Awujale of Ijebuland. As of the time of filing this report, details of the Agenda or expected outcome of the DSS meeting had not been disclosed.
