Davido, Woman in Renewed Paternity Dispute Over Young Girl
Popular Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has again denied claims that he is the biological father of a young girl, Anuoluwapo, as a long-running paternity dispute with her mother, Ayo Labinjoh, returned to the spotlight, Global Mirror News reports.
The controversy resurfaced on January 15, 2026, after an Instagram post shared on an account managed by Labinjoh appealed directly to the singer.
The post, written in the voice of the child, alleged that years of bullying and emotional distress had been caused by the unresolved paternity issue and urged Davido to submit to a DNA test, according to Global Mirror News findings.
In the message, the writer respectfully asked the award-winning singer to agree to a DNA test, stating that the request was solely between father and child and aimed at clarifying her identity.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Davido strongly dismissed the allegation, insisting that several DNA tests had already been conducted and that all results excluded him as the child’s father.
He warned Labinjoh to stop contacting or mentioning him publicly, maintaining that the issue had been conclusively resolved.
The singer further claimed that the tests were carried out following pressure from his family, particularly his father, and that none supported the paternity claim, Global Mirror News gathered.
In response, Labinjoh released screenshots of what she described as private conversations between Davido and her daughter.
She alleged that she met the singer at a nightclub in Ibadan where she worked as a waitress and claimed that he distanced himself after learning of her pregnancy.
She disputed Davido’s assertion that multiple DNA tests were conducted, insisting that only one test ever took place and alleging that the result was manipulated. She further claimed that the laboratory process was compromised.
Labinjoh also disclosed plans to seek the involvement of the United States Embassy to supervise an independent DNA test, citing Davido’s dual Nigerian-American citizenship.
She said this step was aimed at ensuring transparency and credibility, Global Mirror News reports.
Reactions across social media platforms have remained sharply divided. While some users advised Labinjoh to move on, others urged the singer to agree to a fresh DNA test in the interest of the child’s wellbeing.
Social media commentator Abisoye Michael, popularly known as Oyemykke, called on Davido to comply in order to put the controversy to rest, Global Mirror News observed.
The dispute dates back several years. Labinjoh first raised the paternity claim publicly in 2017, alleging that Davido fathered her then three-year-old daughter.
A DNA test reportedly conducted in 2014 excluded the singer, but Labinjoh has consistently disputed the outcome, alleging irregularities. The matter resurfaced again in 2018 with renewed calls for another test.
When contacted recently, Labinjoh declined to grant interviews, citing threats and concerns over her and her daughter’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
She reiterated that only one DNA test had ever been conducted, contrary to claims of multiple tests.
As the online exchanges continue, the saga underscores the sensitive intersection of celebrity influence, paternity claims, and intense social media scrutiny, with Nigerians closely following developments in the case, Global Mirror News reports.
