Brothers of Death: Delta Herbalist, Sibling Nabbed for Killing Client, Okada Rider
The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a chilling crime in Owa-Alidima, Ika North-East Local Government Area, following the arrest of a 20-year-old herbalist, Amechi Okwuokenye, and his 26-year-old brother, Smart Okwuokenye, over the murder of two men.
Police investigations revealed that Friday Liberty, a 22-year-old client of the herbalist, had visited Amechi’s shrine on September 30, 2025, for spiritual cleansing. He was accompanied by Isioma Ugbeje, a commercial motorcyclist. Both men vanished without a trace.
After days of fruitless search, Liberty’s family petitioned the Police. Acting on intelligence, detectives raided the herbalist’s shrine on October 23, 2025, and found Amechi hiding inside a refrigerator. His brother was later arrested nearby.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to kidnapping their victims and demanding a ₦10 million ransom.
When the ransom failed, they killed the men and dumped their bodies in a soakaway pit behind the shrine.
Police later recovered the decomposing remains and deposited them at a mortuary for autopsy.
Confirming the arrests, Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, condemned the act as “a shocking display of evil driven by greed,” assuring that justice will be served.
The discovery has sent shockwaves through the peaceful Owa-Alidima community, where residents are demanding stricter monitoring of unlicensed herbalists and ritualists.
