Brake Failure Leaves Three Dead, Several Injured in Ibadan Trailer Crash

No fewer than three persons have been killed and several others injured following a tragic accident involving a heavy-duty trailer in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Global Mirror News reports that the incident occurred around the Beere axis of the city, sending shockwaves through the densely populated area as the out-of-control vehicle caused widespread destruction.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the trailer developed mechanical faults shortly after descending from Beere Roundabout, having passed through the busy Oja’Oba area. The situation worsened when the vehicle’s braking system reportedly failed as it approached Beere Junction.

Further findings by Global Mirror News show that the driver lost control, veering off course and ploughing into multiple road users, including cars, commercial motorcyclists, and pedestrians.

The most severe impact was recorded at the Iso-Osan area, popularly known as Orange Market, where the trailer rammed into roadside shops and structures, injuring several traders and residents while destroying goods.

Witnesses described scenes of panic, with people scrambling for safety as the trailer tore through the area, leaving a trail of devastation.

Emergency responders and security agencies arrived promptly, evacuating victims to nearby hospitals and restoring orders while managing traffic disruptions.

The deceased victims have been deposited in a morgue, while those injured, some reportedly in critical condition are receiving treatment.

Authorities have since secured the area to prevent further casualties and are continuing rescue and recovery operations, as investigations into the incident intensify.
