Be More Dedicated To Work” – Ogun Lgsc Chairman Charges Workers

The Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olivia Olubunkola Onabanjo, has charged Local Government workers in the State to be more dedicated to their work and avoid truancy. The Chairman made this statement while receiving the Association of Retired Heads of Local Government Administration (ARHOLGA) in her office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Chairman, who thanked the Association for the visit, said the present Ogun State Local Government Service Commission is open to ideas and constructive criticism. She stated, “If we are doing well, let us know, and if we are not doing well, let us know.” However, she warned that the Commission would not tolerate any form of indiscipline from its workforce.

While reiterating the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy towards lateness, corruption, and other vices, Ms. Onabanjo said the present Commission would not entertain any financial embezzlement under her watch. She had appealed to the retired Heads of Local Government Administration not to interfere in transfer/posting issues but to allow the Commission to perform its duties without hindrance.

The Chairman charged the retired Heads of Local Government Administration to advise Local Government staff to behave in a manner that would portray them as responsible officers in their respective stations. She vowed to collaborate with the Ex-HOLGAS in the area of training Local Government workers.

Earlier, the Chairman of ARHOLGA, Elder Olorunmbe Aregbesola, thanked the Commission for its purposeful leadership and transformation in the Local Government Areas. He highlighted the Association’s purpose, which includes enhancing the development of Local Government Service and its manpower.

The Association’s Chairman emphasized that its members possess both theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance better performance of staff and are well-positioned to handle training and seminars in any area of Local Government Administration.

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Bola Aromiwura, Chairman of the Elders Forum of the retired HOLGAS, advised the Commission to maintain strategic sessions with the retired HOLGAs to share experiences and contribute to the development of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission.
