Bandits Strike Kaduna Hospital, Abduct Doctor, Patients

Armed bandits on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, invaded the Nasara Nursing and Maternity Home in Kujama, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping a Medical Doctor, five patients, and a security guard in a late-night attack.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen, who arrived around 1 a.m., fired several shots into the air before storming the facility.

The hospital’s security guard, who tried to resist, was shot multiple times before being taken away with the other victims.

Residents described the invasion as one of the most shocking incidents in recent times, lamenting that hospitals, which once seen as safe spaces — have now become targets of criminal violence.

“We used to believe hospitals were sacred grounds, but now nowhere is safe,” said a visibly shaken community member.

The assault has triggered renewed anxiety among healthcare workers in the region, many of whom fear for their safety amid growing attacks on schools, worship centres, and medical facilities.

Security analysts say the incident highlights the worsening breakdown of public safety across Kaduna State, warning that unchecked banditry could further weaken essential services such as healthcare.

Police authorities have yet to provide an update on efforts to rescue the victims, while residents continue to call for urgent government intervention to prevent a recurrence.
