Ayefele Reaffirms Hope of Walking Again, Shares Emotional Moment With Triplets

Nigerian Gospel Singer and Media Entrepreneurship, Yinka Ayefele, has restated his belief that he will one day walk again, decades after the 1997 car accident that left him unable to stand.

In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, Ayefele was seen explaining to his triplets why he cannot walk, recounting the events of the tragic Christmas-season crash.

Ayefele said the accident occurred on December 12, 1997, while he was driving on a slippery road. According to him, his vehicle lost control, somersaulted about six times, and eventually plunged into a bush and deep pit.

Despite the devastating impact of the crash on his spine and mobility, the singer expressed unwavering faith in his full recovery.

“I still believe I’m going to walk,” Ayefele told his children, assuring them that he consistently engages in physical exercises because he believes he will someday stand and walk again.

Since the accident, Ayefele has remained active in the music and broadcasting industry. He now owns multiple radio stations across Nigeria, including Fresh FM and the newly launched Urban FM in Ibadan.

Speaking on fatherhood, Ayefele reflected on raising triplets, whom he welcomed in 2019 after years of waiting. He said the experience is no longer overwhelming.

“It was challenging then because I did not have the experience. There is nothing serious about having triplets. They are fun to be with, and I enjoy them. Even if they are four or five, I can cope. It is not challenging anymore,” he said.

On the recent attack on his Ibadan-based Fresh FM station, the broadcaster declined to give details but appreciated God that no life was lost.

“I don’t want to talk about it. I just want the police to continue their investigations. The important thing is that we didn’t record any casualties,” he noted.

Ayefele also disclosed that he is currently more focused on expanding his broadcast business rather than releasing new music. He said he is working on videos from his last album while simultaneously growing his radio network across Lagos, Akure, Ibadan, Ado Ekiti, Osogbo and Ogun State.

“It is about creating jobs for youths. That is why I expanded to other states,” he added.
