Awujale Absent from Ojude Oba Festival Due to Health Reasons

The Coordinator for the 2025 Ojude Oba festival, Dr. Fassy Yusuff, has clarified the reason behind the absence of the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona, from the annual festival held on Sunday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

According to Dr. Yusuff, the monarch was absent because he was recuperating at home after being discharged from a Lagos hospital last Thursday. “Awujale was hospitalized in Lagos two weeks ago, but was discharged on Thursday. He is now recuperating at home. A normal situation. Nothing to worry about,” Dr. Yusuff said in a text message.

The Awujale was represented at the festival by his wife, Olori Kemi Adetona. Thousands of guests and tourists who attended the festival were initially bewildered by the monarch’s conspicuous absence, as he usually sits in majesty to receive homage from attendees.

Dr. Yusuff’s explanation aims to dispel any rumors or concerns that may have arisen due to the Awujale’s absence. The festival continued with great enthusiasm, despite the monarch’s absence.
