Autopsy Reveals Drugs Linked to Destiny Boy’s Death Months After Passing

The mystery surrounding the death of fast-rising Nigerian singer, Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has been clarified following the release of an autopsy report months after his passing.
Global Mirror News gathered that the 22-year-old artiste, who died on January 17, 2026, had sparked widespread reactions and speculation after disturbing videos from the scene surfaced online.
At the time of his death, family members disclosed that Destiny Boy had been battling a long-term health condition associated with seizures. Their explanation, however, did little to stop rumours and conflicting claims circulating on social media.
Fresh findings from the Ogun State Police Command have now shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
According to police authorities, an autopsy conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department discovered dangerous levels of tramadol and methamphetamine in Destiny Boy’s body.
The medical report further concluded that the singer died from aspiration pneumonitis caused by the ingestion of the substances.
Police spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the development, adding that one suspect has already been arrested in connection with the case.
He stated that investigations are still ongoing and that authorities are working to determine how the substances were obtained and the extent of any other persons’ involvement.
Destiny Boy became a household name in 2019 after his Fuji-inspired cover of Davido’s hit song “If” went viral and earned him recognition across the country.
The young singer later built a loyal fan base with his energetic performances and street-inspired music style.
He is survived by his partner, Iremide, and their child, whom the couple welcomed in November 2024.
