ARHOLGA Pays Tribute to Mama Onabanjo During Condolence Visit to Family in Ijebu-Ode

The Association of Retired Heads of Local Government Administration (ARHOLGA) has paid glowing tributes to the late Chief Mrs. Lucia Onabanjo, matriarch of the Onabanjo family, during a condolence visit to the family house in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Global Mirror News gathered that the visit, which took place on Thursday, December 22, 2025, was led by the Chairman of the Association, Elder Olorunmbe Aregbesola, and was aimed at commiserating with the family over the passing of Mama Onabanjo, wife of the first Executive Governor of Ogun State, late Chief Bisi Onabanjo.

The ARHOLGA delegation was received by Barrister (Ms) Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, alongside other members of the Onabanjo family.

In a condolence letter dated January 21, 2026, and signed by the leadership of the Association, ARHOLGA described the late Mama Onabanjo as a woman of rare virtue, strength, and deep Christian faith, whose influence transcended her immediate family.

According to the Association, Mama Onabanjo was not only a dependable support to her husband during his Political career but also a caring and disciplined mother who ensured her children were raised with sound education and godly values, despite the pressures of public life.

“She was a devout Christian who lived out her faith with humility, prayer, love for truth, and unwavering conviction,” the letter noted, adding that her positive impact was felt across the wider Onabanjo family and beyond.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Barrister (Ms) Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo expressed deep appreciation to ARHOLGA for the condolence visit and words of comfort.

“The visit of ARHOLGA, led by Elder Olorunmbe Aregbesola, and the heartfelt tributes paid to our mother mean a lot to us as a family,” she said. “We sincerely appreciate your prayers, solidarity, and support at this difficult time. May God reward you all for standing with us.”

She added that the family is comforted by the enduring legacy of faith, integrity, and service left behind by Mama Onabanjo.

The Association concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and asking God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

The team is led by Elder A.W. Olorunmbe Aregbesola as Chairman, with Engr. T. Titilayo Ashiru serving as Secretary. Otunba Ekundayo Olukayode, JP, doubles as Public Relations Officer and a Member of the Board of Trustees, alongside Sir Gregory Olufemi Ajayi, also a Board member. Regional coordination is managed by Prince Kola Akinyemi for the Remo Zone and Prince Adetola Oshunlaja for the Ijebu Zone. Other key members include Engr. Abiodun Alli-Oke and Dr. Adetayo Olusoji Adekoya.
