Araújo Takes Indefinite Break After Chelsea Loss
Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo has stepped away from football indefinitely after the club confirmed he was left “mentally and psychologically down” following their recent defeat to Chelsea.
Club sources told Global Mirror News that the Uruguayan International requested personal time to recover after what has been described as an emotionally overwhelming period.
The loss at Stamford Bridge reportedly intensified the strain on the 25-year-old, who has been a mainstay in Barcelona’s defence this season.
Barcelona’s management approved the request, emphasising that player welfare remains a priority.
Araújo is expected to focus entirely on his mental recovery, with no fixed return date set. Officials say he will rejoin the squad only when he feels fully ready to resume top-level competition.
His temporary absence is considered a significant blow to the Catalan side, but the club maintains that supporting the defender’s well-being is paramount.
