Anthony Joshua’s Close Friends to Be Laid to Rest at London Mosque on Sunday

Global Mirror News has gathered that funeral prayers for Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif Kevin Ayodele, close associates of British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua, will take place in London on Sunday, January 4, 2026, following their tragic deaths in a road accident in Nigeria late last year.

The Janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) is scheduled to begin at 10:00am at the London Central Mosque, located at 146 Park Road, London NW8 7RG.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by Boxing King Media, which conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, noting that thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones during this difficult time.

Global Mirror News reports that the bodies of Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele were repatriated to the United Kingdom after the fatal crash that occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025.

The accident happened along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, specifically around the Makun Area of Ogun State.

According to details gathered, the Lexus SUV conveying Anthony Joshua and members of his team collided with a stationary truck on the highway.

While Joshua reportedly sustained only minor injuries, the crash claimed the lives of his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his personal trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who both died at the scene.

The incident sent shockwaves through the boxing community in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and beyond, with fans, athletes and sports administrators expressing grief over the loss of two key figures who played significant roles in Joshua’s professional career and personal life.

The London funeral service is expected to draw family members, close friends, members of the boxing fraternity and well-wishers who wish to pay their final respects and honour the memories of the deceased.
