Anthony Joshua Survives Ogun Expressway Crash, Two Killed

World-renowned heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a fatal road traffic accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, an incident that claimed the lives of two occupants of his convoy.

Global Mirror News gathered that the crash occurred around late morning in the Makun area, near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis of the expressway.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Lexus SUV conveying the boxing icon collided with a stationary truck parked along the busy highway, under circumstances that are still under investigation by road safety authorities.

According to a witness and media professional, Adeniyi Orojo, who was present at the scene, the convoy consisted of two vehicles — a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV providing security backup.

Joshua was seated in the back seat of the Lexus at the time of the collision, alongside another passenger, while two others occupied the front seats.

Rescue efforts reportedly began immediately after the impact, as bystanders and other road users assisted in pulling victims from the wreckage and alerting emergency responders.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived shortly after to manage the scene and facilitate evacuation.

Tragically, two passengers, one seated beside the driver and another seated next to Joshua were confirmed dead at the scene.

Joshua, who reportedly sustained minor injuries, and one other survivor were rushed to a hospital for medical attention.

The exact location of the hospital was not disclosed for security reasons.

Confirming the incident to Global Mirror News, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the crash had been verified, adding that investigations were ongoing.
