All Progressives Congress Re-elects Yemi Sanusi, 35 Others as Ogun APC Executives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has re-elected Chief Yemi Sanusi and 35 other members into its State Executive Committee for a fresh four-year term.

The affirmation was carried out by 1,180 delegates and statutory delegates during the State Congress held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta. The exercise was supervised by the APC Congress Committee Chairman, Chief Wale Ohu, in the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Chief Yemi Sanusi emerged again as State Chairman. Other members of the executive include Alhaja Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader, Prince Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary, and Chief Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary.

Addressing party faithful, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, underscored the imperative of practising internal democracy in substance and not merely in rhetoric.

He stressed that patronage-driven politics and opaque negotiations must give way to principled leadership anchored on transparency and due process.

The governor maintained that sustained electoral success would depend on organisational discipline, effective grassroots mobilisation, and a coherent, service-oriented message to the electorate.

He commended the delegates for endorsing the consensus arrangement in accordance with their conscience, noting the absence of inducement.

With an eye on the 2027 general elections, Abiodun urged party members to intensify engagement at Ward and Local Government levels, communicate Government achievements candidly, and build trust among undecided voters.

He also appealed to aspirants who did not secure positions to remain loyal to the party, emphasising unity and collective responsibility.

Charging the newly elected executives, the Governor described their roles as strategic rather than ceremonial, calling on them to uphold the party’s constitution, foster reconciliation, promote inclusiveness—particularly for youths and women—and consolidate party structures from the grassroots to the state level.

In his remarks, Chief Wale Ohu described Governor Abiodun as a stabilising and unifying force within the party, stating that the affirmation process reflected the APC’s commitment to cohesion.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Yemi Sanusi expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their leadership in strengthening the party’s structure.

He pledged that the new executive would justify the confidence reposed in them by reinforcing institutional frameworks, upholding fairness and equity, and broadening opportunities for youth participation.

Sanusi further affirmed that discipline would remain paramount and assured members of an open and accessible leadership.
