Alarm as Truck Driver Alleges Midnight Chase, Assault by Fake Policemen in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has opened an investigation following a viral video in which a truck driver alleged that he was chased and assaulted by men posing as Police Officers in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Global Mirror News gathered that the driver claimed the incident occurred around 4 a.m. when the suspects, who allegedly identified themselves as members of a task force, pursued him along the road, damaged his truck and threatened his life.

The video, which quickly spread across social media platforms, sparked fresh concerns over the activities of fake security operatives and criminal gangs impersonating law enforcement Officers.

Reacting to the allegation, the Ogun State Police Command denied that the men involved were genuine Police Officers.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said preliminary findings showed that none of the suspects belonged to the Nigeria Police Force.

The command assured residents that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible, stressing that impersonation of security personnel remains a serious criminal offence under Nigerian law.

Global Mirror News reports that the Police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ogun State.
