Adeleke Dumps PDP, Joins Accord Party Ahead of 2026 Re-Election Bid

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially defected to the Accord Party, setting the stage for a heated 2026 Governorship contest. The announcement came on Tuesday during a gathering of National and State leaders of the Accord Party at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo.

Adeleke revealed that his membership in Accord actually began on November 6, following weeks of political consultations and deliberations with stakeholders across Osun State.

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This decision came after extensive engagements with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” the Governor stated.

He said his defection was driven by the need to ensure continuity in Governance and further deliver “democratic dividends that have been applauded at home and abroad.” Adeleke emphasised that the Accord Party’s philosophy of welfarism aligns strongly with his administration’s priorities.

“We opted for Accord because its mission aligns with our focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare. The welfare of the people must always be at the heart of public leadership,” he said, adding that the party has become his new political home.

Welcoming Accord Party executives to the Government House, Adeleke assured them of a united and inclusive political front as preparations for the 2026 election intensify.

“Our duty now is to sustain a united front as we prepare for the elections. We must ensure inclusive leadership where the interests of all groups are respected,” he said.

The Governor proudly cited his administration’s achievements across infrastructure, social services, and worker welfare, insisting that Osun has witnessed unprecedented levels of governance and service delivery.

He declared Accord as the “new platform” for Osun’s continued progress, urging supporters across Osun West, East and Central — from Ijesaland to Ifeland, Osogbo, Igbomina, Iwoland, Ikire, Gbongan and beyond — to “thumb up” in support of continuity.

“Osun voted for good Governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. Accord is our party for victory next year,” Adeleke affirmed.

He concluded by formally declaring his allegiance to the Accord Party “in accordance with the will of stakeholders and the wishes of Osun people.”
