The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and his redeployment to Delta State as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations.

This strategic move is aimed at bolstering security in the region, leveraging Adejobi’s extensive experience in Public Communication, Operational Management, and Community Policing.

Adejobi, a seasoned Police Officer, has held various roles throughout his career, including serving as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

He is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology and Geography and a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.

His unique blend of academic rigor and practical expertise has positioned him well for his new role.

As DCP Operations in Delta State, Adejobi will be tasked with:

  • Coordinating Tactical Deployments: Overseeing tactical operations across Delta State to enhance security
  • Supervising Field Operations: Ensuring effective execution of Police operations on the ground
  • Leading Anti-Crime Strategies: Developing and implementing strategies to combat crime
  • Tackling Violent Crimes: Addressing violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and oil theft
  • Managing Crisis Response: Responding to and managing crisis situations effectively
  • Enhancing Police-Community Relations: Building stronger relationships between the Police and Local Communities

Adejobi’s redeployment to Delta State is seen as a strategic move to reinforce security in the region.

Delta State is one of Nigeria’s most operationally sensitive States, facing complex security challenges that require experienced leadership and strategic coordination.

The Nigeria Police Force has emphasized that Adejobi’s promotion and redeployment are part of routine administrative procedures, highlighting the force’s commitment to merit-based career advancement and strategic deployment of top officers.

Police Authorities have also dismissed reports suggesting that Adejobi was “controversially removed” from his spokesperson role, stressing that his elevation was neither punitive nor political. Instead, they emphasize that the move represents a promotion in rank and a posting to a more strategic position within the force structure.

With his wealth of experience and proven track record, Adejobi is expected to make a significant impact in his new role, enhancing security and building trust between the Police and Local Communities in Delta State.
