Abk South Shines: Hon. Balogun’s 24 People-Oriented Projects Worth Millions Earns Governor Abiodun’s Praise

The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, has received commendations from Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON for his commitment to improving the Local Government’s development.

The commendation follows the commissioning of 24 people-oriented projects worth Millions of Naira across the 15 wards of the Local Government.

The projects commissioned include:
- Installation of Solar-powered Streetlights across Wards 1, 4, 11, 12, and 15, alongside 500 units of mini solar streetlights.
- Drilling of Boreholes at Itoko, Onikoko, Nawarudeen Road, Oke-Osoba, Oke-Ikaana, Itori, Itesi/Isale Abetu, Ijeja, Oke-Aregba, Kuto, Ijemo and Itoku as well as rehabilitation of Boreholes at Kugba Health Center, Car Wash along Bola Ajibola Road and Car Wash at Somorin, to provide clean water for residents.
- Renovation of Public Toilets at Sodeke, and major markets like Kuto, Adire Market Asero and Itoku as well as newly constructed Public Toilet at Ago Egun.
- Construction of a Steel Pedestrian Bridge at Saje-Kugba and rehabilitation of a collapsed bridge at Iporo Ake Sawmill.

Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, praised Hon. Balogun for his commitment to development and urged him to execute more projects.

Abiodun noted that Hon. Balogun has the highest scoring card among other Local Governments, particularly in arrangement and coordination.
Hon. Balogun highlighted his administration’s achievements, including:
- Maximizing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through digital innovations, such as computerization of Certificates of Origin and POS-enabled collections.
- Keying into the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme for okada riders and other residents, ensuring they receive medical attention during accidents without delays.
- Repairing the vandalized transformer to restore power to the Local Government Secretariat, Ake and providing solar lights to enhance service delivery.
- Distribution of Desk and Benches to Baptism Pry School, Idi-Aba, and Ijaye Community Primary School, Gbangba.
- Introducing a ward intervention approach, engaging communities to identify and execute priority projects.

The projects are expected to have a significant impact on the lives of residents in Abeokuta South, providing them with access to clean water, improved infrastructure, and enhanced healthcare.

The commendation from Governor Abiodun is a testament to Hon. Balogun’s commitment to development and his vision for a better Abeokuta South.
Hon. Balogun expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for evenly distributing State projects across Ogun’s three Senatorial Districts.
He added that Abeokuta South is already benefiting from the Governor’s developmental strides.




The event was attended by dignitaries from Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Executive and Legislative Councils, Management and Staff.
Also, Political Leaders, Party faithful, and residents, who all bore witness to the administration’s commitment to development.
