Abiodun Reaffirms Support for Fallen Heroes’ Families

The Ogun State Government has renewed its resolve to deepen social and financial support for families of Military Personnel who lost their lives defending Nigeria, as the State joined the rest of the Country to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, speaking through his deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, used the solemn ceremony at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, to highlight the Administration’s determination to ensure that widows, children and dependants of fallen heroes are not left to struggle after their loved ones’ ultimate sacrifice.

Global Mirror News gathered that the Governor described the peace and stability enjoyed in Ogun State and across Nigeria as a direct outcome of the courage, discipline and patriotism of members of the Armed Forces, both living and departed.

According to him, the annual wreath-laying and remembrance parade is not merely ceremonial, but a constant reminder of the Nation’s obligation to those who paid the highest price in its defence.

Every freedom we enjoy today was bought with the blood and commitment of our fallen heroes. Their families deserve care, dignity and continued government attention,” Abiodun said.

He also reaffirmed the State’s support for serving and retired soldiers, noting that veterans of the Nigerian Army remain vital symbols of National unity and sacrifice.

While offering prayers for the repose of the souls of deceased officers and soldiers, the Governor assured that his Administration would keep the welfare of their families as a priority, stressing that Ogun State would continue to stand by those whose loved ones gave their lives for the Country.
