Abiodun Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Development as Ogun Expands Road Projects

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to ensure that every part of the State benefits from the Government’s ongoing infrastructure renewal projects, declaring that no Community will be left behind in the drive for even development.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Governor said massive reconstruction and rehabilitation works were simultaneously ongoing on four major highways within the Ifo, Sango Ota, and Idiroko axis of the State.

Akinmade dismissed claims circulating in some quarters that the State Government had neglected certain Areas, describing such insinuations as “politically motivated mischief” aimed at misleading the public.

He emphasized that the Abiodun-led Administration is working methodically to spread the dividends of democracy across all three Senatorial Districts.

He disclosed that the Government has already captured the 24-kilometre Ota–Itele–Lafenwa Road in the proposed 2026 budget, contrary to speculations that the road had been ignored.

According to him, the project had been budgeted for “long before the social media hoopla,” a reflection of the administration’s proactive approach to development planning.

“The Dapo Abiodun Administration inherited a huge infrastructure deficit in 2019, especially in the Sango-Ota axis, where several major roads had been in deplorable condition for many years.

However, the situation has changed significantly today, as the Government has turned many of these roads into active construction sites,” Akinmade stated.

He further explained that the Government has undertaken extensive reconstruction work on key Federal and State roads despite limited resources.

The 140-kilometre Abeokuta–Lagos Expressway and the 63-kilometre Sango–Idiroko Road—both federal roads—are currently being rehabilitated by the State Government to ease traffic challenges and improve connectivity.

Akinmade also highlighted several completed and ongoing projects across the Ifo–Ado Odo–Ota axis, including:

  1. Ikorita Meta, Adenrele/Olose Titus Vespa Road (3.1km)
  2. Old Bank Road–Orita Meta–Coker Junction, Olumo Spur Road (1km)
  3. Olusegun Osoba, Toyin, Agbado Road (2.4km)
  4. Reconstruction of Sango Ota–Oke Aro–Ojodu Abiodun Road, Lagos End (Yakoyo to Mr. Biggs) Phase 6 (1.6km)

  7. Alhaji Kosoko Street, Ojodu Abiodun (1km)

  13. Lafenwa–Osi–Ikola Road (7km)
  14. Reconstruction of Bible College Road, Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government (3.89km)

He added that other key projects such as the 30-kilometre Sango–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke Aro–Lambe–Akute Road and the 140-kilometre Sango Ota–Papalanto–Abeokuta Road have also seen significant progress, with more than 50 percent completion achieved despite the challenges posed by the rainy season.

“The Dapo Abiodun Administration has never left anyone in doubt of its determination to work assiduously till the last minute of its tenure,” Akinmade said. “The good people of Ogun State should be rest assured that the ongoing development sweeping across the state will reach every Community.”

While acknowledging the rights of residents to demand better infrastructure, the Government cautioned against falling for what it described as “the antics of opposition politicians” seeking to misrepresent its efforts.

“In its determination to run a transparent and people-driven government, the Dapo Abiodun-led Administration will continue to respond to public scrutiny,” Akinmade noted. “However, we are aware of ongoing attempts by political detractors to tarnish the government’s image by whipping up unnecessary incitement.”

He explained that many of the roads now receiving attention had been neglected for decades, but the Governor’s strategic vision and prudent management of resources have enabled a broad spread of developmental projects.

“At a time when Ogun State is earning National and Global recognition for landmark achievements—including a world-class Airport, a Global-standard sports complex, and the largest cement factory in West Africa—we must not lose sight of the progress being made because of a few naysayers,” he concluded.

Akinmade reaffirmed that Governor Abiodun’s vision is to ensure every Local Government Areas in Ogun State feels the presence of Government through tangible projects that improve lives, boost commerce, and enhance the State’s competitiveness within the South West and beyond.
