Abeokuta Set for Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá 2026 as Culture, Wealth and Empowerment Take Centre Stage
Abeokuta is set to witness another colourful cultural gathering on Monday, 9th February 2026, as the city hosts the 2026 edition of Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá, an annual cultural and economic empowerment festival celebrating wealth, enterprise, and Egba heritage.
The event, scheduled to commence by 10:00 a.m. at Oba Odeleye Park (Ori Omi), Sokori, Abeokuta, is organised under the Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá Initiative, a platform established in 2024 to promote cultural pride, economic empowerment, and community development.

Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá celebrates Ajé as an icon of wealth, prosperity, dignity of labour, and entrepreneurship, and is clearly positioned as a cultural and empowerment festival.
Festival Focus and Background
Since its debut in 2024, the festival has become a recognised platform for
- Empowering women, youths, traders, and artisans
- Supporting farmers and small-scale businesses
- Promoting Egba cultural values, unity, and enterprise
- Encouraging philanthropy and social responsibility
The 2025 edition attracted royal fathers, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and top government officials, including the Ogun State Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who represented the State Government.

Organisers say the 2026 edition will feature:
- Rich Egba cultural performances and exhibitions
- Expanded economic empowerment programmes
- Scholarship awards for selected primary and secondary school pupils, with special focus on less-privileged children
- Recognition of icons of wealth, enterprise, and philanthropy
Statement from the Chief Convener
Speaking ahead of the festival, the Chief Convener, Princess Kehinde Adetutu Adelanwa-Sobayo, Iyalaje Oníré Ẹ̀gbá and Erelu Aje of Owu Kingdom, described Odún Ajé as a celebration of values that define the Egba people.
“Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá is about celebrating wealth as responsibility, enterprise as culture, and prosperity as a tool for community development. It is a platform where our heritage meets empowerment, and where culture inspires economic growth, especially for women and the younger generation,” she said.
