2027: Wike Teases Opposition, Tinubu Courts Minister for APC

President Bola Tinubu has extended an open invitation to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), praising Wike’s leadership in the FCT and hinting at a potential future alliance.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Arterial Road N16 to Arterial Road N20 and other projects in Katampe District, Abuja, Tinubu said, “We have somebody in Nyesom Wike.
He’s not a member of our party, not yet. But the day he changes his mind and registers with the progressives, we will welcome him.”
The invitation comes as Wike declared that any planned opposition coalition to unseat Tinubu in 2027 is already doomed to fail. Wike said, “Mr. President, your good work has killed the coalition. The coalition is bound to fail, and it has failed.”
During the event, Tinubu highlighted his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, stating that it is a necessity for national growth and competitiveness. He emphasized the importance of good roads, rail, power, healthcare, education, and digital infrastructure.
Wike, in his remarks, expressed confidence in the President’s infrastructure drive, promising that all ongoing projects in the FCT would be completed before the administration’s third anniversary. The Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, also praised Tinubu’s unwavering support for the FCTA and his commitment to infrastructure development.
